Packing up in Texas, Linde is heading northwest to take on an 'awesome opportunity.'

Aaron Linde, lead writer on Battleborn, announced his departure from Gearbox Software on Twitter early yesterday morning. "Absolutely love this team and am incredibly proud of the work we did together," Linde said.

Linde should be a familiar name to Shacknews readers. After several years working as a creative consultant and web designer, he wrote reviews at Destructoid before joining the Shack staff as an editor in January 2008. From there, he made the jump to the other side of the proverbial desk, taking on writing and community management duties at Microsoft, where he wrote "consumer-facing materials for the Gears of War, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts and Halo websites," per his LinkedIn profile.

His rise through game development only accelerated, as he turned to writing narratives for Gears of War 3. After leaving Microsoft, he took on lead-writer duties for projects at Airtight Games and Monolith Productions over 2012 and 2013, before joining Gearbox Software as lead writer.

The future looks quite promising for Linde. "Gonna be hauling back up to the pacific northwest in a week or so for an awesome opportunity I'll talk more about soon," he wrote in a follow-up tweet.
