Paragon update .24 introduces Iggy & Scorch and movement speed changes today

Iggy & Scorch are now available in Paragon, but that's not all as we're going to be running around just a little bit faster starting today.

Epic Games has released update .24 for Paragon, which includes a new Hero, Iggy & Scorch, changes to player movement speed, and more.

Iggy & Scorch is the latest hero to be added to Paragon’s roster and is all about delivering some serious fire damage. Here’s his full list of abilities:

  • Ignite(Passive)
    • Scorch can apply an Oil effect to enemies that causes Iggy's Fire to apply Burn.

  • Molotov (Basic Attack)

    • Deals {x} Energy Damage and leaves a pool of fire on the ground where it lands that applies Burn. Leveling the ability makes the ground fires last longer

  • Oil Spill

    • Scorch spits out an oil blob that applies Oil and deals {x} Energy Damage and applies Burn when ignited by Fire.

  • Oil Slick

    • Scorch gains {x} movement speed and leaves a trail behind him that applies Oil. The trail can be ignited with Fire to apply Burn.

  • Flame Turret

    • Iggy throws out a turret that deals {x} Energy damage to nearby enemies and applies Burn. Turrets prioritize enemy Heroes.

  • Flame Belch (Ultimate)

    • Scorch spews flames from its mouth dealing {x} Energy Damage and applying Burn. At the end of the duration Scorch belches and enemies in the cone are Knocked back.

With today’s update, Paragon players should expect a 12.5% increase in their Hero’s base speed, which increases the base move speed of Melee heroes from 420 to 472.5 and Ranged heroes from 400 to 450. The strafing penalty has also been removed, allowing heroes to move at the same speed in all directions.

Some major features include the ability to add a friend in the post-match screen, matching first-time players with others in their first five PvP games, card linking, and no longer gaining XP or Reputation in Solo vs. AI or Co-op vs AI, although the latter will only come into play after you reach level 20.

Here’s the full list of changes being implemented in update .24 today:

  • Base Speed Increase of 12.5%
  • Increased base move speed of Melee heroes from 420 to 472.5.
  • Increased base move speed of Ranged heroes from 400 to 450.
  • Removed Strafing Penalty
  • Increased strafing movement scalar from .82 to 1.0.
  • Increased travel mode strafing movement scalar from 0.8 to 1.0.
  • Increased strafing movement scalar when attacking from .25 to 1.0.
    • These changes remove the strafing penalty when Heroes are moving left, right, or diagonally. Now Heroes will move at the same speeds in all directions, effectively increasing Ranged Hero speeds when strafing side-to-side from 328 to 450 (37% increase) and diagonally from 389 to 450 (15% increase).
    • We observed that players would inadvertently hold left/right when backpedaling from an enemy causing the previous penalty to apply. This wasn’t obvious to the player.

Reduced Combat Slow

  • Decreased attacking slow for melee heroes from 100 to 50.
  • Decreased attacking slow for ranged heroes from 125 to 75.
  • This reduces the movement speed penalty for Heroes who are actively attacking with basic attacks.

I felt the same way when I tried the game out over the weekend. I had to figure out how to engage "Travel", but the standard movement speed was super slow.
