Nintendo's Miitomo achieves 4M active users; earns over $280k per week

Now if only anyone had anything worth sharing on Miitomo.

Miitomo launched in the US on March 31, and after nearly two weeks of being available on both iOS and Android devices, it appears Nintendo officially has a hit on its hands as the app is currently being enjoyed by four million active users and is earning $40,000 in daily revenue.

According to a Survey Monkey report, Miitomo achieved over 2.6 million downloads during its launch week and was downloaded an average of 370,000 times per day. On average, a user checks into Miitomo two to three times per day with a total of 7-8 minutes spent within the app itself.

What we’re curious to see is if Miitomo has longevity as its retention is a big question mark right now. Sure - we’re all enjoying learning about our friends and family by answering various questions, purchasing new clothes, and playing silly mini-games to earn even more clothing options. But whether or not this will be a new mobile social network that will take the world by storm is yet to be seen. In the meantime, what did you do last weekend?

Maybe Nintendo will finally realize that mobile is where the money is and put Mario Kart on iOS!

Nintendo exec: "Hey, you know what would make a ton of money but be a terrible game? Mario Kart on ioS!"

Miyamoto: "Yeah, sure, fuck it. Who needs good control schemes?"

What if they sold you yet another plastic thing for you to stick your iPhone into? It'd be white of course.

Nintendo is good at selling plastic things. Look at those Amiibos!

And what shitty controllers are you going to use to play it? Come to think of it, if anyone can tackle the horrendous MFi controller situation for Apple devices, it's Nintendo.

The solution is the controller is built into the phone. Some kind of clam shell thing. Apple has been practicing on getting phones super thin so they can double the thickness just for this reason!

I'm sure you mean Pokemon on iOS if they actually wanted to make money?

I must say I've been checking it every day since it came out, but I don't think the novelty is going to last longer than a few more days (for me, at least).

If it were more like Animal Crossing with a lot more to do then I'd be doing my daily chores at least through Summer. Speaking of which I should dig up my 3DS and start pulling weeds.
