IBM Japan announced it was working on Sword Art Online project a few weeks ago, and today, we’re getting our first look at the project, called Sword Art Online: The Beginning.

Sword Art Online: The Beginning is less of a standalone game and more of a demo to show participants how IBM’s computing power can be used to recreate the popular series visuals within a virtual environment.

Over 100,000 applicants showed interest in taking part in Sword Art Online: The Beginning, but only 208 were selected to take part in this experiment. Judging by reports, we’re confident they weren’t trapped inside the virtual world and forced to complete it, just like in the actual anime series.

i still don't understand what "The project uses a a next-generation computing system called the “Cognitive System” that supports human decision-making," means. Unless it's mean to power the NPC so they act more human? Or just to read the movement of the player and translate that into action for their avatar to preform in the game?
