Street Fighter 5 server issues cause Capcom to bring them down at 7pm PST

Don't expect to be able to play Street Fighter V online for a couple of hours this evening.

Capcom has announced it will be bringing its servers down for Street Fighter V starting at 7pm PST, hoping for it to return and functional by 10pm PST “at the latest.”

The server downtime is being scheduled to apply a fix to Street Fighter V’s servers, which haven’t been able to keep up with the demand of the game’s launch.

Since launch, a number of server issues have popped up, which caused issues for online functionality, intermittent disconnects, issues logging in, match result uploads, and slow matchmaking, just to name a few. Considering how highly anticipated the latest title in the Street Fighter series has been, we’re surprised Capcom is having trouble with its servers for the game’s launch.

Hopefully the downtime won’t last as long as Capcom says it will as we can’t imagine those who just purchased the game being happy with its offline offerings. The story mode will easily take about an hour to complete, and one can only take so much Survival before they move on to another game.
