There won't be an Assassin's Creed game in 2016

We guess the next game needs just a bit more time within the Animus.

We hope you enjoyed Assassin’s Creed Syndicate as Ubisoft has announced there will not be a new Assassin’s Creed game for 2016.

In a statement submitted to Shacknews, Ubisoft partially blames the bug-filled release of Assassin’s Creed Unity as being the reason why it decided to take a break from the series. “Since the release of Assassin’s Creed Unity, we’ve learned a lot based on your feedback,” the statement reads. “We’ve also updated our development processes and recommitted to making Assassin’s Creed a premier open-world franchise.”

Ubisoft plans on taking this year to further evolve the game mechanics and to ensure it’s delivering on the promise of the franchise offering unique and memorable gameplay experiences.

What at0mic said. Until now it was just news leaked by Kotaku that Ubisoft never confirmed or denied until now.

I can never tell if I like these games. I played about half of 2 until giving up. I think every third moment I think it's the most magical thing ever, but the other two thirds I hate it to death.

Playing Black Flag now and its the same feeling. Also hate the ship combat the most.

I think they need more than a year off, the need to let it breath a bit and really go back to the drawing board. Then by that time maybe people will be able get kinda hyped for it again.

Good on Ubisoft. I think the next title will benefit from the break.

Totally agree its a real solid move. I personally like Syndicate a lot but more time of course would make it even better.

I actually am really looking to the new open world one, I think that is the model they should sue for now on.

Yeah, I think these AAA companies can benefit from taking their time. Absense makes the heart grow fonder, ya know?

AC2 and Brotherhood (which is basically 2.5) for the core AC experience, and Black Flag for pirateyness

to clarify, Black Flag is a great game, but it doesn't do that much with the core AC story/setting/mythology so it only sorta feels like an AC game

2, brotherhood and 4 are the best IMO. Didn't finish unity and haven't played syndicate though.

AC2, AssBro, Ass Rev (it's a great conclusion to the Trilogy), Assboats, and AssSyn. Read the first game, AC3, and AssOuiOui on Wikipedia.
