Shack Reels: Shack's Arcade Corner: Rampage

Grab your quarters and prepare to go on an all-out Rampage!

3

Shack’s Arcade Corner is about to go on a serious rampage this week! Don’t worry though as we’re talking about the arcade classic arcade game that was both produced and distributed by Midway Games.

For this week’s Arcade Corner, Greg takes a swig of Scum Soda to prepare to talk about Rampage. Let’s just hope he doesn’t become yet another horribly mutated monster who is bent on destroying anything that comes in his path.

Shack Staff stories are a collective effort with multiple staff members contributing. Many of our lists often involve entires from several editors, and our weekly Shack Chat is something we all contribute to as a group.

I got to level 22 in the actual arcade one time. Rampage is a classic!

This was the first video game my 4 year old learned how to play. Before he became obsessed with Sunset riders and Desert Assault, he would play Rampage for as long as I would let him.

One of my favorite games. I even played the heck out of the Wii version. I didn't play a lot of the arcade because arcades were pretty much dead in my area and I only saw it a couple of times on family trips to Ocean City Maryland or New York. I ended up buying a lot of versions of Rampage over the years. My favorite port was the Sega Master system. It was miles better than the NES version. I think I might like it more than the arcade version running through an emulator (such as Midway Arcade Treasures for the PS3). The worst version I ever played? The Atari 2600 version. Its kinda got the entire game but its so abstract, I keep asking myself Why?

Nice this game was awesome back in the day, I wan a fan. They should make a new one pimped out for the new consoles and PC.

The Wii one was actually really good it felt like a arcade game.
