Rise of the Tomb Raider PC January release date confirmed by Steam

The Steam page for Rise of the Tomb Raider changed from 'early 2016' to 'January 2016', giving more credibility to the title's release later this month.

We learned Rise of the Tomb Raider may be headed to PC in late January thanks to Amazon France letting its release date slip ahead of time. Today, another piece of the release-date puzzle has just been revealed, and this time, it’s from the game’s official Steam page.

The Rise of the Tomb Raider Steam page now says the game will be available in January 2016. The page doesn’t reveal when exactly we can expect the game to hit the PC this month, but Amazon’s previous leak hinted at a late January release, specifically January 29. Since games release in Europe on Fridays, we could only assume Rise of the Tomb Raider could be released on January 26 in the US.

We’ve reached out to Square Enix regarding the release date of Rise of the Tomb Raider on PC. We’ll be sure to update this story once we hear back from them.

Oh, wow. Didn't expect Rise to make the jump to other platforms so soon. I guess MS doesn't mind the game hopping over to PC before it inevitably shifts to PS4 as well, though. Xbox One and PC sales are money in MS's pockets.

iirc they always said the PC version would be out early 2016, PS4 won't be until a good bit later

lol, holiday 2016 for ps4? who's going to be buying a year old game at full price? ps4's got uncharted in may. hope MS gave devs a shit load of money up front. They're going to sell all of 25k copies on ps4.

That's a gross underestimation, I think. A lot more people own a PS4 than own an XBO; the first Tomb Raider was popular, so that popularity should give RotTR some momentum on PS4; and I'm sure the publisher will brand the PS4 release as a director's cut or GOTY edition with more content, which will make it worth the price.

And as you might have noticed from other replies to the OP, plenty of people are excited for it to make the jump to PC and PS4.
