Shack Reels: Amiibo Hunting for Wave 5B

Today saw another round of Amiibo released into the retail wild. Have these figures gotten any easier to find? Greg Burke hits the streets to find out.

For Nintendo fans, Friday was more than just the release of Super Mario Maker. It was also the day for the latest round of Amiibo figures. Wave 5B was released earlier today, bringing Zero Suit Samus, Olimar, and Ganondorf to all stores, with Dr. Mario coming to Target and Bowser Jr. going to Toys 'R Us. There was also the 8-bit Mario Amiibo that hit along with Super Mario Maker.

Nintendo has been notorious for its short Amiibo supply throughout the first waves. So have things gotten any better? Greg Burke hit the streets today to find out.

I woke up around 5am and by 5:50am i was already at Target with 2 people in front of me. Doors opened around 8am and by then there was around maybe 8 people in line total. Target had about 4x Ganandorfs, 4x Zero Suit Samus, a bunch of Olimar, 8 bit Mario and Doctor Mario. After, me and my friend decided to hit up Toys R Us, they opened at 10. We got to TrU around 8:50 and there were about 20 people in line bofore us! Around 9:15am someone from TrU came out with pieces of paper for the Amiibos. They had around 60 Bowsers Jrs and only a few of the rest. Both me and my friend managed to get a Bowser Jr each!

This was my first time that I managed to get an entire wave and that I bought more than 2 at a time, overall it was a success!

I totally forgot yesterday about the amiibos and went today and found Zero Suit Samus, Olimar, and Ganondorf still in stock at Gamestop. Picked up ZS Samus. Yee.
