Lucas eats thunder in Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS on June 14

Nintendo will be releasing Lucas as a downloadable character in Super Smash Bros. on June 14. He'll eat lightning, but you don't want to know what he'll do with thunder.

Nintendo has announced Lucas from Earthbound will be available to buy on both the Wii U and 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. starting on June 14 at 8am PT.

Lucas made his first and only appearance in Super Smash Bros. Brawl as an alternative to Ness as the majority of his special moves are similar to his, although there are slight differences. Lucas’ PK Thunder goes through opponents, while Ness’ doesn’t. Lucas’ other attacks are mostly unique when compared to Ness.

It’s been a few weeks since Nintendo has released any additional downloadable content for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS, the last being Mewtwo from the Pokemon series. Considering Lucas will be released during the week of E3, his availability may take the backseat to the amount of news and reveals we’re expecting from this year’s show. We hope to hear news of more downloadable characters in Super Smash Bros. as we think it's time Nintendo starts adding new fighters on a regular basis.

So, since Lucas is only in Mother 3, and Nintendo has demos in smash to represent each character, are we on the verge of a Mother 3 announcement? What did they do with Rob the Robots demo? Did he ever have one?

sadly no, Mother 3 will never hit the states. Nintendo has been pretty adamant about that. It's just about the only thing that could make me care about their E3 conference, but it'll never happen.
