Shack Reels: Top 10 Games that Need to be Remade

Sometimes, even the most beloved of classics could use a modern coat of paint.

Nostalgia is a funny thing, in that older generations will look back at old-school classics with a greater sense of fondness than the average person. That'll allow those people to overlook a few glaring flaws, especially in terms of visuals. Sometimes, even the greatest classics could benefit from some modern flair, and that's where this week's Top 10 comes in.

Join Greg Burke as he takes a look at ten games that could use a modern overhaul. Keep in mind that this isn't talking about simple HD remasters, but goes farther by suggesting some mechanical tweaks and some other general ideas that would successfully bring these old favorites into the 21st century.

      I approve of this list!

Would Duke Nukem work better today if he was more like Jack Burton in Big Trouble in LIttle China? Maybe he should be more competent than that but I mean someone who's completely ridiculous and everyone other than him is aware of it?

Or maybe just don't have him using glory holes like he does in shit games like Duke Nukem Forever. I don't know, that seems like a pretty good way to avoid turning off your audience.

Like all but two choices are games that HAVE like 6-10 sequels already. Why not more of those games we listed that only had the original and MAYBE a sequel?
I don't understand the need of a remake of a game there are already that many versions of. I mean. I UNDERSTAND, but surely you're going to get another sequel, even if they don't remake an older one.

this, i enjoyed this list but imo series that have a wealth of sequels or already made remakes shouldnt be on the list(or the next one, hint hint!)

There was a Duke Nukem 3D remake made but Gearbox prevented the
team from releasing it even though they gave permission to make it! The few screenshots that leaked looked amazing. Gearbox needs to sell the ip to someone who will do something with it.

Because the original was better than the sequels? Because a remake /= a sequel?

You might not want it, but a lot of people would lose their shit. It would sell systems for whatever it was released on.

Sacrifice, and Metal fatigue should be remade. Specially Sacrifice, it was soo fun and advanced for its time.

      Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy
      Second Sight
and another Bourne game (the first one was great in my opinion)
Oh and another Alpha Protocol. I had the most fun with that rpg (bugs and all) than I did with the last 30 I own.
Also, Square went on record stating something to the effect that the day FF7 gets a remake, essentially that marks the end of the entire FF series. Its like admitting defeat or something.
