Expect two more years of Payday 2 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One

Overkill has signed a deal with 505 Games to deliver two more years of content for Payday 2. You hear that? It's the hype train a-comin'!

Overkill has announced Payday 2 players can expect support from the development studio for two more years with a combination of free updates, paid downloadable content, and campaigns.

The extension in support for Payday 2 has been made possible through a deal Overkill has made with its publishing partner, 505 Games. The agreement covers an additional 24 months starting April 1, 2015 and will support PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 versions of Payday 2.

“We will yet again see the PAYDAY franchise being expanded with more heists, weapons, characters and even new game modes such as driving car.” said Starbreeze AB chairman Michael Hjorth. “ PAYDAY as a franchise is here to stay and with it we are building a solid financial foundation for the company for years to come.”

Payday 2 was originally released back in August 2013, so it's already had quite the track record as it will soon be entering its second year. Today's announcement will certainly keep the Payday 2 hype train rolling for quite some time, and with the upcoming Crimewave Edition, even more players will soon be able to carry out hesits on their current-gen platform of choice. If you don't believe us, then check out our impressions of the game.

While myself and a few others here are quite vocal about our love for Payday 2, it kinda bums me out knowing we won't get a Payday 3 anytime soon. All this means is I hope Overkill keeps iterating and improving on their systems. I would love to see more things like the Car Heist job (thinking a Italian Job style heist) or hell even dumb things like disguises as part of a asset load out, being able to answer more than 4 pagers heh etc etc.

Also we need a crazy 5 day heist. Golden Grin sounds like its going to be intense for sure but c'mon we need something BIG.

as much as I enjoy Payday, that engine is already creaking at the seams. It looks fairly ugly, stealth is half-baked, the netcode is atrocious and they've pretty much reached the limits of what it's capable of in terms of gameplay mechanics.

I'm all for another two years of support but not if it's two years of alternately drill defending and ECM rushing.

Yea, I hear that. Already they are starting to evolve in their heist design though, and while it's not GREAT, like you said its not drill defending. The Car Shop Heist is actually one of the most fun heists my crew and I have had in that game in a LONG time. Hell even the Hoxton Breakout was fun and it was pretty much a standard ass escort mission. Going back to those original heists is rough, they just seem so dull now. We can do a diamond heist on DW in like less than 3-5mins, Bank Jobs are no problems, Mallcrashers as well.

I hope that they take this time to fix the movement issues in that engine. I would so love it if they could give it that professional smoothness to movement that the Source and Unreal engines have.

IDK, I've never had an issue with the movement in the game but that’s just me.
