Super Mario amiibo - Gold Edition will be a Walmart exclusive on March 20

Those looking to purchase the Gold Edition Super Mario amiibo will need to head on over to Walmart next month.

It appears the writing on the Walmart walls turned out to be true as Nintendo has announced its Super Mario amiibo - Gold Edition will be available for sale exclusively at Walmart on March 20.

As the original promotional poster suggested, the Gold Edition amiibo will be made available the same day Mario Party 10 is released on the Wii U across 3,000 Walmart stores for $12.96.

Aside from the standard edition of Mario Party 10, a bundled version that includes a Super Mario amiibo. Just be sure to wake up bright and early if you want to even attempt to get your hands on the Gold Edition amiibo as I’m sure they’ll sell extremely fast.

I'm fine with these things being scarce because Nintendo, but when you make them retailer-exclusive it turns me off completely. That sentiment extends to a lot of other things too; I wasn't eager to preorder Mass Effect 2 at Best Buy for some dumb rifle either.

I'm good with the regular one that comes with Mario Party. I get that it's like gold Mario in NSMB2 but it's kinda ugly.

So if the demand for these things is high, and Nintendo logic is just off, that makes me wonder- what if people stopped buying amiibos? Would Nintendo then mass produce them????
