Strike Suit Zero fans listen up as Edge Case Games, which is a new British game studio that was formed from the team behind the legendary series, has announced its debut PC game, Fractured Space.

The title will be a tactical space combat game where players control large capital ships to take part in online, team-based space battles on an extremely large scale. Edge Case Games will be working alongside its dedicated community to make Fractured Space the game they want by sharing early assets, prototypes, and project plans while listening to feedback along the way.

Fractured Space is expected to launch on Steam Early Access later this year, and is expected to launch as a free-to-play title when it releases in 2015. Those who participate in Early Access will receive a number of perks, which includes exclusive ships, crew, boosters, and ranks.

I signed up for their early testing. I only spent a few minutes in it so far since most of their real testing happens during UK work hours. That said it was pretty weird that since they hadn't yet picked a game it just showed up in my steam library as "Space". Actually I just checked and it still does.

Legendary series? It wasn't legendary and wasn't a series. Strike Suit Zero was released in 2013 as a complete mess and received DLC that was essentially Kickstarter backer rewards repackaged. It also had a single crash grab spinoff and a so called director's cut where were both understandably critically panned.
