Wii U video shows upcoming faster startup

As part of its financial presentation, Nintendo showed off a video of the upcoming Wii U update that will provide faster startup times.

You may have noticed that in the time it takes to start up a Wii U game, you could learn a foreign language or grow a lavish beard. Nintendo has plans to cut down on those wasted moments dramatically, with a system update this summer. The company has now released a video to show it in action.

We saw a simulated approximation of the feature in January, but this new video (via Joystiq) is actually even faster than that was.

The video was part of Nintendo's financial presentation, laying out its plans moving forward after reporting recent losses. A faster startup isn't likely to turn around the Wii U's fiscal woes, but it will be a nice change of pace for those of us who already own the system.
