H1N1 is Sony Online Entertainment's ambitious zombie-themed MMO. Coming to Steam Early Access in the next few weeks for $20, the developer recently showcased the game in action for the first time.

Game designer Jimmy Whisenhunt and technical director Tom Schenck appeared on the game's Twitch channel to walk players through its crafting, day and night cycles, and combat (via Polygon). It's looking a bit rough, but it's also incredibly early. You can judge for yourself here:

Oh crap, that is a Sony thing? I dropped in on the stream and had the impression that it was just a couple of (unprofessional) indie guys working on a vanilla DayZ clone.

It's not the PS2 team, but the game is operating on the PlanetSide 2 engine.

This looks kind of interesting, obviously very early but the crafting sounds cool.

Yea, it has potential to be really cool, I just hope they deliver. It looks to take the setting and style of DayZ and mix it with the crafting of Rust. If you can craft cars for example (or fix them up and have to upkeep them) that could be something really awesome.

What is the unique selling point for H1Z1? It looks like Dayz with crafting, is it more to it?
