Shack PSA: Dungeon Keeper free on GOG

While the latest Dungeon Keeper may not be at all what you want, a free-to-play mobile game with microtransactions up the wazoo, hey, what's the harm--the original is still there, right? Indeed it is, and now it's briefly free for everyone to download and play (no microtransactions, either) on GOG.

Indeed it does, and now it's briefly free for everyone to download and play (no microtransactions, either) on GOG.

To snag your free copy, simply mosey on down to GOG to claim one. Due to demand, it'll take a short while for the 'purchase' to process. You only have until 2:59am Pacific on Sunday, February 16 to get in, but the copy will stay on your account forever.

It's all to draw attention to GOG's big Valentine's Day sale, which offers sizeable savings on games including System Shock 2, the new Rise of the Triad, Trine, Syndicate Wars, Trine 2, and Dungeon Keeper 2.

      That's crazy - they're selling last year's ROTT for $3 today

You have no excuse now, Shack. Even with the horrible jumping maps that's a great price for a fun throwback shooter.

It really is - I just hate how poorly it runs on my outdated system :)

I picked up Hammerwatch and PixelJunk Monsters for like $3. GoG is kicking ass.

Dungeon Keeper 2 is alright. It translated the game into fully modeled 3d but in some people's opinion (mine included) sacrificed a little character to do so.

Well worth playing if you either really enjoyed the original or couldn't get past its graphics.

Why exactly hasn't anyone made an AMAZING spiritual successor to this? I've seen a lot of imitators, but they're definitely far from greatness of the originals. It's... odd.

        War for the overworld.

You can play an unfinished version on steam.

Also Evil Genius is quite similar (and awesome).

Evil genius is repetitive and tedious.

Eh, just kinda falls in the mediocre list of imitators for me.
