Yoshi's New Island trailer shows off what's new

4

Nintendo's lazy "New" naming scheme will bite them in the butt one day, but until that day comes, we can enjoy this new trailer showing off all the new things in Yoshi's New Island. For example, you'll see Yoshi eating a giant enemy and making an equally ginormous egg which bounces around the screen destroying pipes a la Mario's Mega Mushroom. You'll also see a number of gyro-enabled tilt games.

But, there's also a lot of classic Yoshi's Island stuff, like the flutter and search for stars and flowers. In many ways. Yoshi doesn't look all that New at all. Given how beloved the classic SNES game is, that could be a good thing.

Yoshi's New Island will be available on Nintendo 3DS on March 14.

I see they brought back "yoshi turning into other things". That was the one part of the original I didn't like. Definitely gonna wait and see for this one. Getting tired of seeing absolutely zero new IP coming from Nintendo.

When I first saw pics of this game I didn't like the look of it, but it looks like they are slowly getting the art-style closer to the original's sort of crayon art work look and it doesn't look as bad now.

I'm wondering if I just saw shitty thumbnails or bad video early on though, as earlier screenshots I looked at don't look as bad as I remember.

So can't wait for this and Kirby to arrive. Things are looking great for my 3DS. Still a lot of older games to play through, but steady line of new good games coming up also.
