The upcoming Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster was handled by art asset outsourcing company Virtuos rather than Square Enix itself. The Chinese company noted in an announcement that while the original game was created by Square Enix, it took the helm on the newly spiffed-up HD versions.

A post on the Virtuos site (via IGN) revealed the outsourcing. The studio itself calls this project a "milestone" and its biggest project to date. Virtuos is known for having ported XCOM: Enemy Unknown to iOS, and having created some art, props, and clothing for The Last of Us.

The announcement post also included a new Japanese trailer, which is composed of about 90% sobbing. I remember Final Fantasy X having some melancholy, but considering the X-2 half of this compilation is about three girls taking on the world with the power of sass, this much crying is a little off-putting.
