Battlefield 4 is shaping up to be two very different games on current and next-gen. On PS3 and Xbox 360, multiplayer battles will be restricted to 24 players, and games will only run at 30fps. On PC, PS4, and Xbox One, multiplayer will support 64 players and 60fps--the way the game was meant to be played.
At E3, one of the big features DICE showed off was second-screen functionality through "Battlescreen." By linking a tablet to the game, players will be able to interact with the game remotely.
Linking Battlescreen to a game will be seamless, even if you've forgotten your Origin credentials, EA promises. Many players may have registered an Origin account months and years ago, forgetting what it is later. To get around that complication, the tablet will display a QR code that can be scanned with a camera connected to someone's system. "It might sound trivial, but it's actually making something that might be problematic for people super simple," Battlelog assistant producer Jesper Nielsen told Engadget.
Unfortunately for current-gen players, Battlescreen is yet another feature inaccessible to them. "Battlelog is powered by the web, and that has a lot of implications. There are a lot of different things you can do, things you can do faster, rather than building stuff in native code," Nielsen said, suggesting this kind of functionality is inaccessible on current-gen consoles.

Thats one of the coolest implementations of QR codes I've ever heard of in a game. Very simple and elegant.
