Age of Empires game coming to iOS and Android, Windows Phone later

Microsoft's Age of Empires franchise is coming to mobile. Ironically, it will be coming to iOS and Android first, with a Windows Phone version to be launched afterwards. Make of that what you will.

According to a report by Reuters, the game will be a free-to-play adaptation of Microsoft's popular strategy series to be developed by Japanese game maker Klab.

Speaking to Polygon, Microsoft confirmed that the game will be "initially developed in English for iOS and Android and launched globally, with plans to release the game in other languages and on Windows Phone in the future." While Reuters' original report suggests that other Microsoft franchises could be making the jump to mobile, the rep stated that "there are no further announcements beyond Age of Empires at this time."

But the important question is: will it have achievements? ;)

(It's not out of the question; Wordament on iOS had them.)

Better question is what version of AOE is it? I've recently started playing Rise of Rome again in multiplayer. While AOE 3 looks better it's still not as fun as herds of Choson legions running around to the slaughter!
