New Mario Party game coming winter to 3DS

Nintendo announced a new Mario Party game during today's Nintendo Direct presentation, which sends the series mobile for the first time on 3DS.

It'll pack seven game boards which each have their own rules, along with 81 new minigames. According to Nintendo president Saturo Iwata, "the gameplay changes dramatically on each boards." One sees Mario and friends riding rockets and charging up boosts, while in another they're quite worryingly deciding whether to hide in safety or charge into the path of a metres-high bullet which could plough into their faces at any moment.

The Mario Party will start this winter, but be warned: a Mario Party don't stop.

Agreed, this should've been a Wii U title.

Monster Hunter with a Wii U and a couple of 3DSs works pretty well.

The different board rules sounds like a great feature that should have been implemented into one of the other 11 mario party games.

They released a gba and ds mario party so it's actually the 3rd handheld version. And just like the other two, this seems a little pointless unless you're a kid. It's like those travel editions of board games that you'd play on long car trips.

Is this the one that emulates parties with hookers and lines of blow? You know, real parties.

Looks like Toad brought the shrooms.
