Report: Watch Dogs for 'all home consoles' coming holiday 2013

Ubisoft marketing materials reportedly state Watch Dogs is coming to "all home consoles" this holiday season, implying that it could be planned for Microsoft and Sony's next-gen consoles that are expected to launch this year.

Ever since we first saw Watch Dogs at Ubisoft's 2012 E3 press conference, rumors have been swirling that it's a next-gen console game. The developer has played it straight, confirming the game for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, but it seems we could be in for a transitional release.

Kotaku reports that a leaked poster for the game says it will be available for "all home consoles" when it launches this holiday season. The back of the poster quotes G4 calling it "a truly next-gen adventure," which while not a quote from Ubisoft, is an interesting one to choose to promote the game.

It seems like the publisher is positioning the game for release on the next consoles from Sony and Microsoft, both of which are expected to launch this year. Sony will likely be unveiling its next-gen plans at an event next week, so the timing is right for Ubisoft to start preparing its marketing materials.

Then again, this could just be Ubisoft's way of saying it's coming to Wii U.

Several months after the console releases, missing the original target, and to little fanfare except for the bitching of consumers. It's very likely they didn't want to announce it for fear of a repeat.

Except its too late for that given that they shown off a PC build of the game at E3.

I can live with having to wait for the PC version. Just give it the attention it deserves, and leave the Uplay nonsense as an option.

It takes longer for the PC port because they have to figure out how to cap FPS at 30.

If it's for the current-gen consoles then it'll be a rude awakening for console gamers when they see the huge difference between what was already shown and how much the graphics will have to be toned-down to get it to run on a 360 or PS3.

You do know that almost every game shown at E3 are usely pre render meaning they are made to look better than they should.

that's just wrong. Sometimes, for various reasons, they tell you the game is running on X console when in fact it's running on another one or on a PC but demo that are played live in front of an audience are not pre-rendered. They do sometimes have a trick where someone else plays the exact same demo in case something crashes in the live demo, they can switch the feed to the backup.
