One of THQ's biggest properties was notably absent from today's auction. Rights to the WWE franchise have been sold outside of the formal auction process, according to a new report by IGN. According to the site's sources, the WWE game franchise will be moving to Take-Two Interactive, parent company of 2K Sports.

Kotaku's Owen Good could not verify if Take-Two is the mystery buyer, but an EA Sports spokesman confirmed that it had "no plans to get into WWE business," leaving very few other suitors out there for the property. According to IGN, "official announcements are expected as soon as tomorrow."

I'm hoping this means the WWE series of games get's a complete reboot from the ground up and maybe not be such buggy messes.

I use to love these games so much.

Last time i ever played one was RAW on the original Xbox. Use to have epic drunk 4 player games with friends.

We all use to fight over the "tutu" and "sunglasses" items to wear. Nothing says awesome while kicking a virtual muscular character while wearing a pink tutu with sunglasses.

I haven't played any of those WWF games since. I mean, how can you top beating the shit out of someone while wearing a pink tutu?!

Makes sense since THQ owed the WWE 45 million.
