Forza Horizon to have monthly DLC packs

Playground Games design director Ralph Fulton talks about the studio's plans to provide post-launch content in the form of monthly car packs and larger expansion packs.

Like most racing games, Forza Horizon appeals to our gearhead. If there's one thing car nuts like more than cars, it's more cars, and Playground Games plans on enabling that particular habit with monthly car packs. Design director Ralph Fulton explained how it will be rolling out the new content.

"From day one, we're going to be launching a car park every month," Fulton told Gamerzines (via Joystiq. "There's going to be five cars per pack and really just reflecting cool new things in the automotive world." He said that expansion packs are in the works as well, which will "extend the experience" beyond providing shiny new chrome. The first one is set to launch on December 18, but he was tight-lipped about what it would add to the experience.

What we’re really excited about is some expansion packs we have coming, the first of which will launch on December 18th and that will really extend the experience you can have in Forza Horizon. We can’t share any details on that now but we’ll talk more about that after launch.

No pricing mentioned on either the car packs or "expansion" packs? (note the quotes there)

It's more like a Forza MMO.

This is a totally separate game. Turn 10 (the guys who do the 'normal' Forza games are not working on this one). There will be a Forza 5 at some point (maybe on the next MS console?) but this isn't in the standard line of Forza games. This is more similar to Burnout Paradise or the Need for Speed game which the Burnout guys (Criterion) are working on.
