Developers Realta Entertainment and Relativity announced BandFuse: Rock Legends today, a music game with a pinch of real music lessons mixed in for good measure. It will let you plug in a real guitar and play casually or actually learn the chords of famous rock songs. Of course, real rock stars sing too, so the game supports a microphone.

Slash, most famous for being in Guns N' Roses and wearing a top hat, lends his voice and likeness as the game's primary guitar instructor. Members from Five Finger Death Punch will serve as mentors as well, and other unannounced mentors will be included. You'll have animated tabs to teach you the songs, and you can slow down the music for practice.

The track list includes "Yellow" by Coldplay, "Back from Cali" by Slash, "Sweet Home Alabama" by Lynyrd Skynyrd, "Breaking the Law" by Judas Priest, "Harder to Breathe" by Maroon 5, and "The Bleeding" by Five Finger Death Punch.

"The music genre is due for a shake up," said Realta Entertainment CEO Stephen Gomes in the announcement. "BandFuse: Rock Legends is poised to change the way people think about music gaming and the guitar - we're working to make it fun and easy for novices to jump in and enjoy a great game while giving experienced players the tools to refine their skills and discover new music. This is not another rhythm game. This is the first true music game for creation, collaboration, and competition."

BandFuse is set to be published by Mastiff Games this year for Xbox 360.
