The announcement of Gotham City Imposters was a little odd. A licensed Batman game in which impersonators of the Dark Knight take up guns to shoot at an opposing team of Joker fans, Imposters certainly isn't taking the mythos as seriously as Batman: Arkham City. But if you let go of some preconceptions and watch the trailer with an open mind, you'll see that it's actually... still incredibly bizarre.
The new trailer shows off some gameplay and the characters that make up both sides. We even get a moment of what seems to be the Joker encouraging the carnage -- which to be fair, is totally something he would do.
The trailer reveals that the game is downloadable and coming in 2012, just in time to ride the wave of Bat-mania caused by The Dark Knight Rises.

The Dark Knight Rises, I think this article means.
The Dark Knight Returns is the celebrated mini-series of comics, and while a animated adaptation is in the works and there are talks of a movie adaptation, I doubt either will be out by 2012.
Something about the female joker character (megan?) skating around on roller skates makes me giggle. The in-game graphics don't quite meet the promise of the style of the original promo art though, in my opinion.
