New Zelda teased for Wii U

What appears to be an attractive new Legend of Zelda game has been teased during a video showing Nintendo's Wii U.

During the grand unveiling of Nintendo's new Wii U console at E3 today, a little snippet of an attractive new Legend of Zelda game snuck into a video demonstrating the touch-screen controller.

The short scene showed series hero Link battling a giant spider in a huge ornate hall. It was big, and Link hit it with a sword; the roaring monstrosity seemed displeased at being struck. The screen on the Wii U's controller served as an inventory display, listing Link's health and items.

Cruel as it is, Nintendo revealed nothing of the game beyond these few fleeting glimpses. While it might simply be a tech demo, hopefully it's not. Fingers crossed for more news in the run-up to the Wii U's 2012 launch.

While it might simply be a tech demo, that seems highly unlikely.

Have we forgotten when the Wii was originally announced. They showed a Link-looking character in a combat sequence. The video looked good and had good use of shadows and shaders. Then the Wii came out and everything was flat polygons (although a LOT of them). The Zelda game was nothing like the tech demo and even took years to come out.

Yah i have a feeling a lot that was shown was just tech demos, the console is probably still over a year away. I doubt they even have the hardware 100% finalized.

I assumed it was Skyward Sword and they are going to dual release for Wii and Wii U, like they did with Twilight Princess. I didn't think the art style looked different for Skyward Sword.

Twilight Sword is coming out this year, so if they do that it will be substantially delayed.

That's a giant enemy crab; it has pincers. Either that, or a scorpion without a tail.
