Gotham City Impostors announced

Warner Bros. and Monolith Entertainment announced Gotham City Impostors, a Batman-inspired multiplayer downloadable shooter featuring customizable Batman and Joker impostors.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and developer Monolith Productions have announced Gotham City Impostors, a downloadable team-based multiplayer first-person shooter heading to the PC, Xbox Live Arcade, and PlayStation Network. In the game, the titular city has been taken over by impostors who model themselves after Batman and the Joker.

According to a press release, players will pick a side and craft their own personalized Batman or Joker impostor, which includes: creating a costume, gadgets, and weapons. Then it's off to shoot Batmans and Jokers in the face in matches, as one does. It's a 4v4 shooter set in the Batman universe, and will feature maps and modes inspired by the franchise.

"Gotham City Impostors blows apart expectations for superhero games with an exaggerated take on first person shooters, set in a part of the DC Universe players have never seen before," said WBIE senior VP of production and development, Samantha Ryan. "Monolith is creating a game that turns Gotham City upside down and we think fans are going to have a blast with this creative twist on multiplayer heroism and anti-heroism as they play up the classic rivalry between Batman and The Joker."

Monolith Productions is best known, recently, for developing the FEAR and Condemned franchises.

More details are incoming, and in the meantime you can follow the game on Facebook.

No shit, that was my first thought to. I can only imagine that some WB head was listening to the Bombcast when an idea to hold.

There was a comics run about Batman/Joker imposter armies a few months back. It wasn't amazing, but I'm guessing that was either the basis or done with this in mind.

Or I could be from the movie since there were actual Batman imposters it in as well.

Sure, but the look their going for suggests the comic run.

      4v4 seems a bit mundane

For 4v4 to work, there must be some kind of objective. Seems too small to be a basic TF rip. Maybe CTF?

Presumably they were working on more than just their tool-set and workflow, but it is nice to hear about one of the projects.

Sounds neat, but hopefully Monolith is up to other stuff to be announced soon as well.

Exactly. Isn't there a scene in batman begins where he takes down an impostor that's using a shotgun?

Haha so basically it's a game where everyone gets to play as batman or the joker.
