Deus Ex: Human Revolution gets PAL-exclusive collector's edition [Update]

European gamers have a third retail option when looking to purchase Deus Ex: Human Revolution, in the form of an exclusive (and limited) Collector's Edition...

[Update: 1:40pm] A Square Enix rep tells Shacknews that Deus Ex: Human Revolution will only get a standard and Augmented edition release in North America. In order to get all of the in-game content offered in the Collector's Edition, North American users would have to pre-order the game twice, as multiple retailers are offering different pieces of content. [Original Story] It looks like Europe is going to get some exclusive Deus Ex: Human Revolution love, with Square Enix revealing an "extremely limited" collector's edition for the region. Announced today on the official Square Enix Europe blog, the numbered "Collector's Edition" will join the standard and Augmented editions of the game--both of which will be available worldwide. The newly revealed edition comes bundled with a number of exclusives, including an Adam Jensen figurine, handful of exclusive in-game weapons and items, and (most importantly), a mission featuring "one of the original Deus Ex characters." Unfortunately, this particular edition is not planned to release Stateside. Shacknews has contacted Square Enix to find out if Eidos Montreal's first development effort will get similar treatment in the form of a North American special edition, but has yet to hear back at the time of publishing.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution gets fancy in the PAL region.

The Deus Ex: Human Revolution "Collector's Edition" includes the following bonuses:
  • Highly collectable Adam Jensen action figurine designed by Play Arts Kai
  • Explosive Mission Pack: An entirely new mission with a special cameo appearance from one of the original DEUS EX characters
  • Exclusive in-game weapons: Automatic Unlocking Device, M-28 Utility Remote-Detonated Explosive Device (UR-DED), Linebacker G-87 multiple shot grenade launcher, Huntsman Silverback Double-Barrel Shotgun, SERSR Longsword Whisperhead silenced sniper rifle
  • 10,000 extra credits to buy or upgrade weapons
  • DVD featuring a 44-minute “making of” special, 30-minute game soundtrack, motion-comic (adapted from DC Comics’ official series), E3 trailer and animated storyboard
  • 40-page art book
A price for the set was not revealed. Deus Ex: Human Revolution alunches on August 23 in North America, August 25 in Australia and New Zealand, and August 26 in select European countries. The game is being developed by Eidos Montreal for the PS3 and Xbox 360, while the PC version is in development at Nixxes. The only hope North American gamers have now is to be vocal about their desire for more Deus Ex retail options, as Eidos Montreal has proven to be focused on its community's wants and desires.

Check again. The US Augmented edition is missing the in-game weapons and mission that various retailers are giving out as preorder bonuses. Only the EU versions get everything included.

Yes of course! The US never ever ever gets any benefits over Europe, Australia and Japan. Please be fair and give them something too!

No way, you guys got boobs in the Witcher!

Not to mention early releases of nearly all BHI products someone has to beta test those games before they hit the shelves in the US

They did the same thing for Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection. it is complete and utter BS and I am sick of Square giving the US the shaft when it comes to these special edition releases. I am sure they have some marketing matrix software that tells them it would not be "fiscally beneficial" but I call bs.

This edition seem to be the Augmented edition all the pre-order/exclusive content from Game Stop, Amazon, ect. with Figurine.
The price on the Augmented Edition was just right at $70
Collector's Edition price? Not sere I would pay more for a Figurine and few weapons.
The "Explosive Mission Pack" is the best thing in this Edition(My opinion) and you can get that for free preordering at Game Stop.

Can any one else preorder this on Steam yet? The only option I have is to add is to my wishlist,. Even though its not coming out for a few months yet it seems odd that you can't preorder it yet atleast.

That isn't that out of the ordinary for Steam. Wait a few months. It'll be available for pre-order eventually.

The only difference there seems to be between this collectors eiditon and the UK augmented edition is the figurine and the special box cover, nothing else

      Augemented Edition:
      Bonus Mission
      In-Game Automatic Unlocking Device
      In-Game M-28 Utility Remote-Detonated Explosive Device (UR-DED)
In-Game Linebacker G-87 Multiple Shot Grenade Launcher
In-Game 10,000 Extra Credits to Buy or Upgrade Weapons
      In-Game Huntsman Silverback Double-Barrel Shotgun
In-Game SERSR Longsword Whisperhead Silenced Sniper Rifle
      "Making Of" DVD
      Game Soundtrack
      Motion-Comic
      40-Page Art Book

      Collectors Edition extras:
      Fancy Box cover
      Figurine

If it was the same price as the augmented edition I would have probably gotten it however, I've had this on pre-order for ages and as such, I'm only paying £27.99 for the augmented edition compared to the current price of £37.99
