It is indeed Microsoft's fault and not Valve's. Console patch certification is not a simple process.

Well it is meant to dissuade the old PC practice of ship now & patch later which Valve is rather fond of so MS charges for patches after the first one. Valve clearly don't want to pay or support the product funnily enough if the positions were reversed PC gamers would be screaming bloody murder.

Valve do crappy console ports which is why I only buy the PC version.

Yah, i'm sure it's all valve's fault ms make it hard to patch games and dissuade game makers from adding free content (as ms don't get a cut of the profits if they don't charge, epic had the same problem). I'd say valve would definitely support the game if it was easier, they're big believers in giving back to their customers and consoles are a pretty big plum to ignore for no good reason. That given, they're console ports havn't been spectacular thus far, but orange box was they're first go at it in a while so i'd forgive it. I wouldn't buy it, but i'll forgive it.

They didn't do the PS3 port, and the 360 one is fine from what I've heard.

Well if Microsoft is stopping all this, and Valve had nothing to do with that PS3 port, then does that mean this is all pretty much going to stay on PC or does PS3 still have a chance?
