Nintendo started up it’s E3 2021 Direct with some news for fans of the Super Smash Bros. series. During Nintendo’s E3 2021 Direct, we learned that Kazuya from Tekken will be the next DLC fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. This was announced with a brand new trailer at the beginning of the keynote.

Nintendo opened its E3 2021 Direct with a cinematic trailer for the new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fighter. We open with Kazuya carrying the body of Ganondorf to a cliff and throwing him off. We then see Captain Falcon get the same treatment. The trailer ends on a lighter tone, as Kazuya drops Kirby off of the cliff, but the pink here calmly hops back up onto the cliff and past the new fighter.

This trailer also gives us our first look at Kazuya’s gameplay in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Fans of the Tekken series will recognize a lot of his moves, as Sakurai and the team have yet again done a pretty stellar job at recreating a character within the Smash Bros framework. Kazuya is just the latest character from another fighting game to join the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster, alongside Terry, Ryu, and Ken.

Although the reveal trailer gave us a good look at Kazuya in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, they’re not done quite yet. Nintendo has announced a “Mr. Sakurai Presents” broadcast for Kazuya that will go down on June 28. Here, the famed Director of Ultimate will go in-depth on Kazuya’s moveset, his strengths and weaknesses, and give us more insight as to how the team made the character work inside Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

The release date for Kazuya is currently unknown, but that will be announced at the “Mr. Sakurai Presents” stream later this month. For more news out of E3 2021, Shacknews has you covered.
