Resident Evil 8: Village announced for PS5 in 2021

The latest entry in the seminal survival horror series is here, and it looks scarier than ever.

A new Resident Evil is finally upon us, and the eighth installment looks like a doozy. Resident Evil: Village (the title technically doesn't have an "8") is an intriguing exercise in survival horror that we can't wait to sink our teeth into.

The eighth installment appears to be a sequel of sorts to Resident Evil 7, as it takes place in the middle of a remote village. Set a few years after Resident Evil 7, it follows Ethan Winters and his wife Mia after they've begun life anew in a new area. However, Chris Redfield ends up coming to crash the party and "disrupts" the couple's life.

As a result, Ethan spirals into depression and seeking answers as far as what happened to him and his wife in a snowy, remote village. The game is set in the first-person perspective and will feature a wide variety of enemies to pursue and visceral action like Resident Evil 7.

Additional information is apparently coming this August, but at least we got a decent amount to kick things off with. It's high time we returned to Resident Evil in terms of moving the series forward, anyway.
