This mod lets you play as Snake Plissken in Metal Gear Solid 5

The mash-up you never knew you needed comes to life with this awesome new mod.

Ever wish you could play as Snake Plissken instead of Solid Snake in Metal Gear? Well, thanks to this ingenious mod, now you can.

Modder Jinmar created a fantastic new mod that's simple, but oh-so-satisfying. It swaps out Punished Snake's in-game model from Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain with Snake Plissken, straight out of Escape from New York. If you choose to, you can also replace Snake with Jack Burton from Big Trouble in Little China. Kurt Russell fans will be delighted to hear that news, especially since Snake owes a lot to those roles for his own existence.

You can see the mod in action in the video below. It's actually done quite well. There aren't any voice clips or anything like that, but just seeing the characters moving around if pretty satisfying. In case you may have forgotten, Kiefer Sutherland stepped in to debut as Snake for Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain as well as its prequel slice, Ground Zeroes, so there's no David Hayter to be found here, although that would be funny to see.

If you've never seen either of the movies referenced in the mod, like Escape from New York or Big Trouble in Little China, you owe it to yourself to rectify both things immediately. They're basically classics, and you'll get a whole lot more out of this mod to begin with.

Speaking of, installation is as easy as downloading a mod manager via Nexus Mods, extracting the mod manager that comes with it, and using SnakeBike to install the resulting file. It's a pretty simple process, and we're definitely going to be giving it a try to see what we can do with Snake. It's not a huge change, like we said, but it's certainly a fun and appropriate one. Next, we'd like to see more characters patched over into the game until we get a fun new cast to play around with.
