If you haven’t been following Gunfire Games’ development of Remnant: From the Ashes, then you might be in the dark on the studio’s upcoming title. Set in a post-apocalyptic world that’s been overrun by monstrous creatures, Remnant: From the Ashes is a third-person survival action shooter. In it, players must embark on an epic journey to save humanity from an ancient evil from another dimension.

We recently had a chance to sit down and talk to Ben Cureton, a designer on Remnant: From the Ashes to talk about how the game uses random generation to help create a truly custom campaign experience. According to Cureton, Remnant: From the Ashes utilizes a random generation system that builds off of specific guidelines. These guidelines help the game to create a completely different campaign each time, which means players will all experience their own level layouts, item pools, and more.

Based on what Cureton said, the game’s main story will still follow the same story beats; However, you could play through the entirety of the campaign and not encounter some of the items that other players found in the same sections of the narrative. It’s definitely an intriguing idea and one that will no doubt entice players to replay through the game.

Known for their work on Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition, Darksiders III, Chronos, and several other titles, Gunfire Games is looking to create a unique and intriguing post-apocalyptic experience for players to dive into. Remnant: From the Ashes will be available on Steam, Arc, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 August 20, 2019.

Make sure you check out the full interview with Cureton above and be sure to head over and subscribe to both Shacknews and GamerhubTV on YouTube. We’re always releasing new interviews, lets plays, and other types of video content for you to enjoy, so make sure you don’t miss out on any of it!
