Crystal Dynamics has long been rumored to be working on a new Marvel’s Avengers game, and Square Enix has been teasing the title for a bit now. Today, during the Square Enix E3 2019 press conference, we got our first look at the upcoming Marvel’s Avengers game, as well as learned a bit more about the game’s story.

According to the reveal trailer, and the talks that followed, it looks like Marvel’s Avenger’s will follow a story set in a completely new universe. Players will be able to take control of some of the core Avengers’ team members as you work to rebuild the world following a tragic attack on San Francisco that leads to the outlawing of superheroes as a whole.

Five years pass, and the Avengers have disbanded, leaving the world unprotected from any evil forces that wish to wreak havoc upon it. With a great evil now threatening an unprotected world, the Avengers must once again suit up and fight to save the people that they once swore to always protect, even if those people aren’t willing to accept them just yet.

Marvel’s Avenger’s will also feature a constantly growing stream of new content, including new characters, missions, and more. Players will be able to embark on 4-player missions online with their friends, as they experience a beautiful and dangerous new Avengers’ universe courtesty of Crystal Dynamics. You can check out the official trailer for the game above, where you’ll be able to see Crystal Dynamics’ hard at work bringing the world of Iron Man, Captain America, The Hulk, and other iconic Marvel heroes to life like never before.

Marvel's Avengers is revealed and gets a release date for 2020

Marvel’s Avengers is currently slated to release on May 15, 2020, and will be available on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Google Stadia worldwide. Crystal Dynamics also mentioned that they would be partnering with PlayStation to bring PS4 owners some special bonuses, like an early access beta and more. Players also won’t have to worry about expensive DLC, as every new region and hero will be available completely free.
