Blair Witch was revealed and given a release date during the Xbox E3 2019 press conference, and players won't have to wait long.

A new Blair Witch game was revealed at the Xbox E3 2019 press conference today. The game is being developed by Bloober Team, the studio behind Layers of Fear.

The trailer, which is embedded above for your convenience, is approximately two minutes long and does a fine job of conveying that creepy horror tone that should make Blair Witch a hit on Twitch. The game is a first-person, story-driven psychological horror game based on the cinematic lore of Blair Witch.

For those that are into games like Blair Witch, the wait won’t be long. The game was given an August 30, 2019 release date and will be part of the Xbox Games Pass service right out of the gate. That means we are less than three months away from crapping our pants as we try to review it here at Shacknews.

A news post on Xbox.com had this to say about Blair Witch:

Yes. Pause the footage at the end on the release date screen.

I take serious umbridge with calling the 3 PC Blair witch games bad. They used the nocturne engine which rules. And the first one was really good. 2nd was mediocre but 3rd was cool. Had magic

I agree with your judgement of 1 and 2, but I didn’t play 3. It did seem like it might have been a touch better than 2. This will probably be better than all three put together.

Never played those, but Nocturne itself had class. I recall seeing Blair Witch in-theatre; was it the first 'found footage' movie? Have a vague memory of them offering barf bags for it.

      No Nocturne Engine, no sale.

Just kidding. Jeez that quickie trilogy in the early 2000’s was a drinker.

I didn’t catch that, but the instant I saw a guy facing a wall in a vid cam viewer, I thought Blair Witch. But I assumed it’d just be a homage, not a full frikken Blair Witch game again.

Ok I want to point something out: Notice how the gameplay footage looks like you’re character mostly stands back with his cam corder viewscreen, while the dog runs on ahead, until you’re in a small room and can look around mostly in place?

That SCREAMS VR controls, n’est pas????

I'm pretty clueless when it comes to guessing this stuff, and although I'm a HUGE vr fan, nothing in that video made me think vr but of course I pray to god it's supported
