Publisher Team17 and Playtonic Games have finally unveiled the next entry in the Yooka-Laylee series: Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, which is coming to consoles and PC in 2019.

Team17 served up a few details about the Yooka-Laylee sequel, calling it a new platforming adventure hybrid. Yooka and Laylee will need to combine their respective abilities to take on a "series of challenging and vibrant 2.5D levels" while exploring and solving puzzles in a 3D overworld. Yes, it sounds pretty similar to the last one, which will be good news for anyone aching for more of the duo.

This time, they'll have to rescue Queen Phoebee's Royal Beettalion Guard from throughout each level as they take on Capital B's "dastardly" Impossible Lair. Sounds like it's going to be pretty exciting, then. If you dug the first adventure, you should find plenty to enjoy here. For now, you can have a look at the announcement trailer, which looks every bit as colorful and sprightly as the original game.

Unfortunately, we don't have an exact date for when the game will debut, but we do know it'll be in 2019. Hopefully a release date will debut soon enough – and it'll come to Nintendo Switch sooner rather than later.

More information is on the horizon for E3 2019, which starts in just a few days and runs from June 11 through June 13 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. We'll make sure to bring you all the news that's fit to print from the show and much, much more.
