Konami announces Contra Anniversary Collection game lineup

A new Contra Anniversary Collection includes titles like Super Contra, Contra III: The Alien Wars, and more.

Contra fans rejoice and rise up. Konami has finally released details for the Contra Anniversary Collection, including which games we can expect to see in the collection, as well as some additional details about the goodies included within it.

The Contra Anniversary Collection is just one of three classic collections that Konami is releasing as a part of its 50th anniversary celebration. On top of Contra, Castlevania fans, and fans of the arcade games can expect to see collections as well. The upcoming Contra Anniversary Collection will include a nice assortment of Contra games, all of which we’ve included below.

The compete Contra Anniversary Collection lineup includes:

  • Contract (Arcade version)
  • Super Contra (Arcade version)
  • Super C (NES)
  • Contra II: The Alien Wars (SNES)
  • Contra Hard Corps (Sega Genesis)
  • Contra (NES version)
  • Contra (Famicom version)
  • Operation C (Game Boy edition)
  • Probotector (Super Mega Drive edition)
  • Super Probotector: Alien Rebels (SNES edition)

We already knew about four of these titles, however it’s nice to see the number of goodies in the Contra Anniversary Collection grow. For many fans, a few of these titles are probably Contra experiences that haven’t been openly available to play for a while now. For one, this is the first time that we’ve seen a re-release of Contra: Hard Corps since the Sega Genesis was still kicking. The NES version of Contra will include new content and added features from the arcade version, while the Famicom version of the title will offer even more visual updates from the NES edition.

No matter how you slice it, the Contra Anniversary Collection is a big win for Contra fans, and we’re excited to see how all of the new titles play when we get our hands on it.
