Stardock is introducing a brand new tower defense game to its portfolio. Siege of Centauri is a new take on the genre, set in the Ashes of the Singularity universe.

Siege of Centauri will find players taking on the role of the commander of the defense of Earth's first colony, where they'll need to figure out the best strategy to save the colony from the alien machines about to come in and wipe out humanity. Every win against this threat counts, and the enemies only get more and more aggressive as time goes on.

Siege of Centauri

There are various gameplay elements Stardock discussed in its announcement, noting that they got the idea for the game while developing Ashes of the Singularity, originally. The engine is capable of handling tens of thousands of units at a time, and Siege of Centauri represents the studio's attempt at building the "ultimate" tower defense game. It brings classic features from the genre and combines them with the features seen in Ashes of the Singularity before them.

The game will be arriving as an Early Access title soon, but there's no date that's been announced just yet. That means interested parties will need to keep an eye out on the official Stardock website for updates or keep heading to the forums to see when they can access it. Unfortunately, there's no video just yet of the game in action, either, but there are screenshots to pore over, and it looks polished enough already – we're definitely stoked to see what this title may bring in the future, for sure.

Stardock is home to several other similar games if you see something you like in Siege of Centauri, but if it's this game you have your heart set on, be sure to keep checking back at Shacknews for additional updates.
