Hollow Knight: Silksong can't arrive soon enough and the Team Cherry crew breaks down a plethora of new things to expect in the sequel.

This week, Team Cherry officially announced its second game. After the success of Hollow Knight, it makes all the sense in the world that the team is diving right in with a sequel. Hollow Knight: Silksong is next up from the small team and they took to YouTube to discuss some details about the game's creation.

Hollow Knight: Silksong casts players as Hornet, the princess-protector of Hallownest, who finds herself in an unfamiliar world. She's a bit more nimble than the Knight, utilizing acrobatic moves and more fluid movement to destroy her foes. She has her own collection of moves and you'll need them as you seek out allies, solve mysteries, and more in this full-scale sequel. Watch the 20+ minute long video below for a deeper breakdown on gameplay, crafting, and more.

In the video above, Ari and William of Team Cherry revealed and handful of nuggets about Hollow Knight: Silksong's development and conceptual stages. We previously reported that Silksong started out as DLC for Hollow Knight, but they revealed the additional detail that it was a stretch goal for the original game's Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign. This means that this sequel's pieces have been coming together since even before Hollow Knight was completed and officially launched.

The concept was focused on a playable hornet, but the team didn't have any specifics on how that was going to play out. Team Cherry even flirted with the idea of switching between the Knight and the Hornet in the game or giving Hornet its own sub-chapter that would be accessed from the title screen.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is a "huge game" that is "still growing", so it makes sense that it doesn't have a release window just yet. We at least know it will launch on PC and Nintendo Switch with additional platforms potentially getting the game in the future.
