Dodging and blocking enemy attacks is a key part of staying alive in God Eater 3. While earlier battles will be easier, as you progress through the main story, enemies will become tougher, and you’ll need to learn all the techniques you can to stay alive. Learning how to Perfect Guard is going to be key to your success as a God Eater, and we’ll tell you everything you need to know in order to pull off this tricky move.

What is a Perfect Guard?

Before we start talking about HOW you do it, let’s touch on what a Perfect Guard is for a moment. Basically, a Perfect Guard is exactly what you might think it is. It’s when you pull off a guard perfectly, thus blocking the enemy’s attack completely. It’s a tricky move to pull off, as enemy animations are quite different at times, but tackling this difficult move early on will help you master it as you dive deeper into the game.

How to Perform a Perfect Guard?

As I said above, performing a Perfect Guard isn’t going to be easy, and it might take you a bit to really get the hang of it. First, you’re going to need to get used to blocking with your shield. This is done by pressing R1 + O on the PlayStation 4 controller. This deploys a shield, which can be used to block against any enemy attacks coming your way. Something else to keep in mind is that you will need to have your shield facing the enemy’s direction, otherwise the attack will not be blocked.

In order to pull off a Perfect Guard, you’re going to have to block at the exact moment of attack. This means waiting until the enemy is just about to hit you. It’s a very small window to hit, but once you’ve done it a good few times, you should grow more accustomed to doing it. Don’t rush learning this technique, as it will take some time to perfect it.
