How to increase max level in Atlas

Learn how to increase your max level cap in Atlas.

1

As you play through Atlas, leveling up your character, you’ll probably notice that there are a few different cap points along the way. For example, you aren’t able to level up beyond level 10 while in Freeport areas, thus pushing to explore beyond your spawn server. Thankfully, you can increase the max level cap quite a bit in Atlas.

Before we dive too deeply, though, we do want to mention that there are some light spoilers for end-game content in this guide, so read at your own risk.

How to Increase Max Level in Atlas

With that out of the way, let’s dive right in. As I mentioned above, once you hit the max level inside the Freeport area, you can raise that level by heading outside of the Freeport server by sailing to the edge of that grid. This will transition to a new server/grid, where you can explore new areas of the world.

Now, throughout your journey you’ll continue to unlock experience, leveling up quite a bit along the way, at least until you hit Level 50. 50 is the current level cap for players in Atlas. While it will take you a bit to hit this cap, once you hit it, you’ll have reached as far as you can go without diving into end-game content.

Atlas skill tree overview
Leveling up will allow you to purchase more skills in Atlas.

The end-game content in Atlas is made up of several bosses that players can find spread out across the various islands and grids. When defeated these bosses will drop special items called Artifact Keys. These Artifact Keys can then be used in certain areas of the world to gain access to special chambers, where you’ll receive Power Stones.

If you’ve looked at your Compass in the Inventory screen, then you’ve probably already made note of the mention of Power Stones, which will increase your overall power in the game. By collecting these Power Stones (there are ten in total) you’ll be able to level up beyond the Level 50 cap that is currently in place, giving you access to more skill points and attribute points. Keep in mind that each Power Stone you collect will raise your max level slightly.

How to Get Power Stones

Now, getting your hands on the Power Stones is the tough part. Not only will you need to acquire the Artifact Keys, but the keys only last two hours before they decay completely, which means you’ll need to know where to go if you plan on unlocking all of the Power Stones.

Thankfully, a Steam user has put together a pretty detailed guide to the islands, including a way for users to test it all out themselves on private servers. Keep in mind, though, that we haven’t had a chance to verify this information ourselves, so we’ll be keeping an eye on things should we need to make any corrections.

According to Steam user xcreisx, eight of the Power Stones can be found inside of underground chambers in the following grids:

GRID NAME POWER STONE NAME INTERNAL ISLAND NAME
C6 Blue Stone of Power Mnt_X_WR_PVE
D12 Turquoise Stone of Power Mnt_S_WT_PVE
F8 Green Stone of Power Cay_C_EE_PVE
G3 Yellow Stone of Power Mnt_R_CH_PVE
H6 Orange Stone of Power Mnt_R_CL_PVE
M12 Red Stone of Power Mnt_G_ET_PVE
O7 White Stone of Power Mnt_U_ER_PVE
O14 Purple Stone of Power Mnt_Y_WU_PVE

The final two Power Stones are a bit trickier to acquire. In order to find the Cyan Stone of Power, players will need to locate a special Ship of the Damned and defeat it. The ship in question has 100,000 HP as well as 30 cannons on each side of it, making it a tough challenge to complete. According to xcreisx, the ship can be found on one of the following paths, between 00:00 and 05:59 local cell time:

  • F14 – F10
  • G10 – J10
  • J11 – J14
  • H14 – G 14

If the ship does not appear in these cells during the times specified above, then it is most likely on cooldown after being defeated.

Finally, to find the final Stone of Power you will need to defeat the end-game boss, the Kraken. This boss fight can be triggered in H7, the center grid on the Atlas map. Once you have acquired all 9 of the previous Stones of Power, make your way to the location and look out for a water vortex. Once you are on top of it, or close to the area, the Kraken will spawn, and you’ll need to engage in a fight with the massive beast. If you manage to defeat it, you’ll be rewarded with the final Power Stone, granting you access to max level in Atlas.
