Looking to try out Shadow of the Tomb Raider, but don't want to pay for the chance to see what it's like?

Starting today, the Shadow of the Tomb Raider Free Trial is now live on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. You can explore Cozumel, Mexico during the fervent Day of the Dead celebrations as Lara Croft as she and her friend Jonah race against the malevolent Trinity to seek out a hidden tomb.

When you complete the trial and then decide to purchase the game (if you do) you'll get to start up right where you left off and retain your progress and any unlocks made throughout the game. The world of Shadow of the Tomb Raider is bigger, better, and flashier than before, with additional tombs, puzzles, and side quests throughout the game as you work to stop the Mayan apocalypse and watch Lara complete her metamorphosis into a full-fledged tomb raider once and for all.

The official Shacknews review of Shadow of the Tomb Raider graced the game with a 7, which our Senior Editor Ozzie Mejia elaborated on in his thoughts below:

"In many ways, Shadow of the Tomb Raider feels like a strong conclusion to the 2013 Tomb Raider trilogy. It builds on all of the mechanics introduced in Rise of the Tomb Raider, adding traversal mechanics, adding combat tools, retaining many of the ideas introduced in the last game (such as items gated by language proficiency), and utilizing some of the best level design the series has had to offer. It really can't be understated how much additions like rappeling has added to the formula."
