Astroneer's Joe Tirado chats about Ketchup Doritos, Nintendo Switch, and more

Comparing Astroneer to Minecraft isn't entirely inaccurate, but there's a lot more to this sandbox adventure game and it now has a release window.

Astroneer from System Era Softworks is a sandbox adventure game that looks like a charming sci-fi sandbox adventure on the surface, but has a whole lot more in store. The game tackles aerospace industry and interplanetary exploration in a way that not only entertains, but educates, and we got a chance to speak with a dev about it and other things.

Shacknews stopped by the Astroneer booth during PAX West 2018 and chatted up System Era Softworks dev Joe Tirado about the new planet, Canada, and whether or not the game is coming to Nintendo Switch. Check out the full interview below and hit us with your comments and feedback!

Astroneers is currently available via Steam early access and Xbox Play Anywhere, which allows Windows 10 and Xbox One players to play with each other. After launching into 1.0 in December, which is right around the two-year anniversary of the game's EA launch, dedicated servers will allow crossplay between all the versions.
