Will Forza Horizon 4 come out on PlayStation 4?

Forza Horizon 4 is releasing soon, but will the latest from PlayGround Games be landing on the PlayStation 4?

Few racing game series get players revved up as much as Forza, the biggest and perhaps sole viable contender to the racing game throne long held by Gran Turismo. Unlike Gran Turismo, however, Forza is a game series that doesn't mind breaking out of its shell to have a bit of fun — and that's exactly what the Forza Horizon is all about. Still, not all console players have been able to enjoy the Forza games, an issue that ultimately boils down to exclusivity. The biggest question regarding the latest entry an obvious one: will Forza Horizon 4 release for the PlayStation 4?

Is Forza Horizon 4 coming out on the PlayStation 4?

The answer is no. There are no plans to bring Forza Horizon 4, or any of the Forza games for that matter, to the Sony PlayStation 4. The game is slated to launch as, and will likely afterward remain, an Xbox One and Windows PC exclusive release.

This applies to games in both the Forza Motorsport series as well as the Forza Horizon series. All of the past Forza games have been Microsoft exclusives — an obvious counter to Gran Turismo's PlayStation exclusivity — and it doesn't seem like that's about to change any time soon, especially considering that Microsoft announced they had outright purchased PlayGround Games, the developers of the Forza Horizon series, just earlier this year at E3 2018.

With that in mind, it's very unlikely that Forza Horizon 4 or any other Forza game will ever land on a Sony-branded console. It may be a bummer, but that's just how things work. PlayStation 4 players can at least remain happy knowing that they have access to hot exclusive games like God of War or Marvel's Spider-Man, while Xbox and Microsoft PC players will still be able to enjoy exclusives like Gears of War, Sea of Thieves, and Halo.

Of course, there is an easy solution for PlayStation 4 owners who want to jump in on the Forza Horizon 4 action: buy an Xbox One or put together a solid gaming PC. It's not exactly an inexpensive solution, but having both of these options available means players will have access to almost all of the hottest video game releases of 2018.
