Double Fine Productions and iam8bit have come together once more to bring you the Day of the Devs competition, which is now open for submissions. The contest is accepting developers from all genres and backgrounds, so even if you've never created a game before, you can submit your creation! It certainly sounds like a great opportunity for new and fledgling developers to have their games seen by a wide audience, that's for sure.

The team is seeking games with interesting and unique multiplayer experiences as well as games that utilize alternate controllers and hardware to accomplish the goals they set out to with gameplay. Submissions will be open from now through September 24, though the complete lineup of games and other details won't be coming out until October, a most appropriate time for Halloween-related festivities, after all.

This is the sixth Day of the Devs since its inception, and last year was a massive blowout with over 75 games and 7,000 fans and attendees. If you're into the indie gaming scene, it's well worth checking out! Stay tuned to Shacknews for further details about the event and everything you can get into there, especially if you're planning on entering a game!
