The development team behind Halo: The Master Chief Collection, 343 Industries, has worked hand-in-hand with the game's community via the MCC Insider Program and the efforts have resulted in a major update that's coming at the perfect time. Starting today, a new update is rolling out before The Master Chief Collection heads to Xbox Game Pass on September 1, 2018, and it contains new features, revamped playlists, and more.

There's a host of changes coming to the game as the team anticipates new players joining the game via the Game Pass program and here's the list of brand new features:

  • Visual enhancements for Xbox One X
  • Improved matchmaking
  • Offline LAN support
  • Intelligent delivery (install individual parts of the collection)
  • Language options
  • Faster load times
  • Updated menus & UI elements

The official post covers a host of other things, as well. Multiplayer is going to be the most significant part of the Master Chief Collection and the team details changes to the matchmaking playlists as part of the big update. Ongoing conversations with the game's community via surveys, forum discussions, and more have led to the creation of 14 playlists. The initial playlists will be limited as the update rolls out over time. These are the playlists available today:

  • Halo: CE Team Doubles
  • Halo 2 Classic Team Arena
  • Halo 2 Anniversary Team Arena
  • Halo 3 Team Arena
  • Halo 4 Team Arena

The additional playlists that the Master Chief Collection expands to as more players join via Xbox Game Pass are all listed in the blog post. For those unaware, Halo: The Master Chief Collection collects the campaign and multiplayer for Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 4. Halo 2 includes the anniversary multiplayer with Forge and classic multiplayer, Halo 3 features Forge, and Halo 4 includes Spartan Ops and Forge. It's safe to say that new players are about to have their work cut out for them.
