Intense is an understatement when it comes to the gameplay reveal of the next Doom.

The debut of Doom Eternal gameplay at QuakeCon 2018 has been highly anticipated since the game was revealed during E3 2018. When the developers took the stage, the excitement was absolutely through the roof. "Killing badass demons with big guns in unbelievable places," was the big lead in for the trailer. The lead character has been enhanced and the team also showed off some new enemy models. A highlight of the previous Doom, the glory kills are getting updated and the enemies are more destructible this time around.

At the start of the gameplay, the player maneuvered quickly using a grappling hook that was attached to the shotgun. The glory kills we saw during were definitely a step beyond the original game and, visually, the game looks like a slight improvement on the previous game, which was quite impressive already.

Later into the trailer, a new climbing mechanic was introduced. There was a claw of some kind that dug into surfaces, but we'll have to wait for more information in the near future. After the initial trailer, another gameplay trailer started where the team suggested we'd "really see what the slayer could do". Throughout both instances, the player has access to a dash that works on the ground and in the air. Coupled with the grappling hook, movement in Doom Eternal takes the action to another level.
