Jump Into Mario Kart 8 Deluxe With New Nintendo Labo Toy-Con Motorbike Functionality

Get your motor runnin'.

Get ready to start your engines in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with the assistance of Nintendo Labo! Starting today, you can download a free software update for Nintendo Switch that adds support for the Toy-Con Motorbike from the Nintendo Labo Variety Kit. You can use the bike you so painstakingly built to control your vehicle in Mario Kart just like you're in the driver's seat...if you still have it assembled, of course.

Ready to race? All you need to do is snag the free update now for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which should download automatically. When you're good to go with that, select the "Nintendo Labo" icon on the title screen and you'll be taken to a menu to select Toy-Con as your controller. While you race, you can turn your handlebars to change direction, and twist the right handlebar to accelerate. The Joy-Con buttons on your motorbike setup will handle brakes, drifting, and the items you pick up along the way.

If you have four different Toy-Con bikes, you can use them all in-game, with separate Joy-Con controllers as well. This is a fun spin on the Labo projects, and a great reason to keep some of the more intricate projects together, rather than decommissioning them and putting them away. It might be interesting to watch for additional crossover functionality like this in the future, especially if more Labo updates come to popular titles later on. Let's make sure to keep our eyes peeled!
